Zahir'd
This is big news, apparently
There must be absolutely nothing else to talk about in the world of the NFL. Constantly, I see things talking about how Az is shaking around, debating on what team to go to. The guy's hands are covered in butter constantly, he's lost a step since his all important third WR role on the "greatest show on turf" and the Lions just cut him. Plus he's still only 5'10. Teams are rushing to pick such a guy up? I guess they're the same type of teams that consider Clinton Portis the eleventh best player in the league. Yeah, Az is still only 28, but he's still slower, undersized, has no hands and... well, he can run routes well. That's a plus! He'll be out of the league in a year or two. He can't complain though, he's made plenty of cash off of these jokers that have hired him since his Ram days.
Chaaaaaaaaaad
This is nice to read. He's quite talented... as evidenced by his 93.7 career QB rating. The Jets should be in the playoffs again next year. Somehow I doubt they luck out past the first round again, though. More on this when I put the divisional previews up, probably starting on July 24. Nothing like a programming note for a month in advance on a blog that next to nobody reads, huh?
Le sigh
You thought I disliked Al Michaels in the NBA booth? This is similar. I would've said worse, but nobody tops NBA Al. Or goes lower. However that works. Look, I love the guy's video games (I've purchased many of them over the years) but I still really don't like the guy in the booth. I kind of hope NBC's attempt at this flops so he's stuck sans work again. But then, it doesn't need my hope anyway. If football on ABC on Monday didn't work, it's not going to work on NBC on Sunday. I bet it doesn't take too long to wind back up on ESPN... depending on how the contract is structured.
Expansion on draft thoughts
I said I liked M. Williams. Okay. I didn't go further than that, I should've. Dan Cody sounds like a great pickup for a second rounder, I'm hoping becomes kind of like Shaun Rogers... high first round talent that fell because of supposed injury trouble, then didn't get injured in the NFL and became a star. But then I'm still torn. Dude's got a damn reality show lined up already. I hate reality TV. As long as they don't reference the hell out of it when he gets put into games (unfortunately, they certainly will if it's on the right network), I can deal. Oh, that parenthesis part is true? Crap. At least his on field performance should be pretty good.
Ricky
Funny, I've talked about Ricky Henderson on here before but not Ricky Williams. From now on, when I say "Ricky", I mean the moronic pothead. I really don't like Ricky. He made a really stupid career decision (a la Tillman) but tried to come back on it, 30 pounds lighter than he was previously. Now the Dolphins have to let him back in because of the contract and the payments. Talk about jamming the organization up, huh?
Don't give me the "Barry did the same thing" line. Barry just didn't want to play anymore. Ricky was/is a drug addict. Barry paid back his bonuses. Ricky is coming back, probably with trying to screw the team out of money on his mind. Might not be the main thing, but I bet it's in there.
Bottom line is, Ricky's an asshole. I really don't like the guy, he only had one good season in the league out of his five anyway and I hope he continues to fail upon his return (especially if he's actually trying to succeed).
