Shaking around
Something else...
... to bring up whenever the Lions play the 49ers (next year, perhaps). Probably a good signing for SF, from what I could tell from seeing Johnnie play in recent years, he's still got some game left.
Character list
Hah! You know what happens when a team wants to bring in character guys. "We may not have talent... but we're lovable!". Sorry Browns fan, but the curse of Art Modell shall live on.
Slow news day
Sportsline has the McQuarters signing up as their second biggest NFL story of the day. Nice timing, guys.
On the fringe and falling
The former Phoenix:
The Cardinals' best QB's theme song could be "Where's your head at?" and their best RB's last starting job (2003) netted him a 3.5 YPC on the season. Yet they're going to make a big push for a playoff spot? Uh... okay. I know their division is total crap, but they're still not going to be that flower that grows out of a pop of dirt. If they do somehow win the worst division in the NFL, well, they'll only be there by circumstance and get steamrolled anyway. The main point stands... the Cards aren't going anywhere fast with those guys at the helm and in the backfield, Dennis Green or no Dennis Green.
2004 Superbowlers:
This one I give credit to. With everyone healthy, they should make a good push for a wild card (or division win if Vick gets hurt, which is entirely possible).
But who are the Chefs?:
The wildcard situation in the AFC (SD/Denver, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh/Baltimore, NYJ/Buffalo) is far too strong for the Chiefs to get a sniff of the playoffs. Yes, they were dominant a few years back, but they're older and banged up. Holmes may not be stable enough for an entire year, Dante Hall could fall apart at random, their D is still questionable. I just can't see them getting ready to play games after January 1st.
El Gigante:
This one's pretty easy. If Eli plays something like his brother does, they'll be a playoff team. Simple!
The Gridiron Heroes
Well, more on them in the coming months.
Why the crappy posts and lack of updates?
Again, there's that big old Piston blog. Secondly... it's a secret!
